HDMI Audio Makes My Pioneer Amp Show As A Display Device....

I have a GTX980 rigged up to my AOC 27" 1440p display via Displayport, and use the HDMI output for 5.1 audio to a Pioneer AV amplifier.
The problem I am having is that my mouse cursor disappears off the edge of the screen because Windows 10 thinks that the Pioneer amp is an extended 1080p display. If I try to 'clone' the displays, it bumps my AOC resolution down to 1080p (which is what it thinks is the maximum resolution for the Pioneer amp).
Does anyone know how I can just output 5.1 audio from the HDMI and stop Windows thinking it's serving a display?
Many thanks in advance. Scott.

Solution
Then I would say your only other option is to use either on-board audio or purchase a discrete sound card that has compatible outputs for your amp's inputs.

Never knew that one :)

Nvidia Control Panel shows two displays as well. One AOC and the other Pioneer HDMI. If I disable the Pioneer display from there, it also disables the HDMI audio option.
