HDMI cable/HP computer/TV

Hello,I have read all the other forums on this topic and have tried all sorts of things such as going to the display settings. The tv is not picking up the signal from the cable. If the cable is unplugged it will say so and then when I plug it in it just says no signal so it reads that it is plugged in. Also a while ago, it started not working when I would sign in under my user account so when I signed in as my daughter's it would work, which I always thought was odd. Now it does not work in any of our accounts. Any suggestions?

Try another HDMI cable and make sure it is enabled in the settings panel!

Where do I enable it in the settings panel? Do you mean in the control panel?

The cables are so expensive to try another one, is there an inexpensive place to get them? Would the cable just stop working randomly?

Okay, so I was completely wrong, this whole time I thought it was an HDMI cable, (apparently my HP 6000 doesn't have one). It is the VGA cable and it is not working no matter what I do with the settings. It is still weird that it used to work under different users accounts and not mine and then it stopped altogether so I'm thinking it's a setting but I just can't figure it out.
