HDMI No Signal Message (Connecting Laptop to 2nd Monitor via HDMI to VGA)

I am working on a Lenovo Thinkpad with Windows 7 and using an Insignia HDMI to VGA adapter to connect to an ASUS VH238 monitor (as a second display). I've had no issues prior to today, when suddenly I am getting a message on the ASUS that reads "HDMI No Signal". The laptop is detecting the 2nd monitor, so I don't believe to be a connection issue there. Everything is plugged in. Also switched monitors and VGA adapters to ensure it's not an issue with either of those. Went into Display settings and they are set to extend to both displays. I am completely stumped. Have also tried re-starting computer.

It might be an adapter issue. Try RMA-ing it if under warranty.

Thank you alexoiu however I purchased a new adapter and still having the issue.

No problem. Not sure then... The HDMI port on the laptop? Can you test it with a tv and a HDMI cable?

I thought it could be that also, but the computer does detect the 2nd monitor and changes to presentation mode, however nothing appears on the ASUS except for the "HDMI No Signal message" - so it seems that the port on the laptop is not dead (?)

Hard to say. Try though testing it with a HDMI cable, if possible.
