some couple weeks ago i just got a new 1080p monitor, and it comes with only vga cable but there is vga, hdmi, dvi input on the back of the monitor. after looking for some info which cable is the best, i find out hdmi is better than vga, so i decided to get hdmi cable, but when i tried the hdmi cable, it display in 1080i and the color is absolutely worse than the vga also i dont know why it display in 1080i but for sure it looks really bad in terms of the color and the quality, even though hdmi should perform better in terms of those things as it is digital connection. i tried to use another hdmi cable, but it does the same, should i just keep using the vga cable or what? i already tried to configure it in the menu of the monitor but still couldnt find out whats wrong. can someone please help me with this problem?

laptop(acer E5-475G) specs:

Solution
you are running games on a intel gpu?

ok, that is a bad idea

the 1080 i, where do you see it, no game i know mentions 1080i, they mention 1920x1080, not i or p

i think you are confusing things or your monitor is reporting resolutions wrong, that is not the gpu or the cable, that is a monitor thing

check on the options on the monitor itself, find the monitor manual and how to correct the input detection and values
1080 i? 1080p, 1080 i is a old abandoned standard, no one should use it unless his monitor requires it

about colors, adjust them on the monitor, the temperature especially, brightness

also press the auto button on it, so it sets properly options, vertical and horizontal, b sure to use the monitor at 60hz minimum, set that option in windows

i dont know why it display in 1080i, it looks really bad for sure, do you know how to fix this kind of problem? all guide on google is for tv mostly

some update: somehow i managed to fix the color problem on intel control panel by switching the quantization range from default range to full range, but idk why when running games it is running on 1080i, which make the game looks flickering

no im not running my games on intel hd, im using laptop that have intel integrated gpu and nvidia gpu, which as you know it will switch automatically usually on games.

some more update: from all games that i tested, rainbow six siege, is the only game that run really different aka improper from the rest. thank you for your help mate

it is possible you are having vsinc problems also resolution problems using the onboard and the nvidia gpu

don't remember how is made the switch from intel to nvidia, supposedly is automatic but most times you need a driver but it should already be installed on your laptop
