Question HDMI performing miles better than dvi

So for months now I’ve been using a monitor that only supports dvi and have been getting terrible stuttering and AA never seems to really work as even with the highest level(s) of AA i still see aliasing on my rig ( i7 3770 , 16gb ddr3 , gtx 1060 3gb evga ftw) which btw ive used this monitor and dvi cable on multiple builds in the past and had the same result . I decided to try and see the result of plugging my pc in to my tv via hdmi and I get no stuttering and AA actually seems to work now , could this be a faulty dvi cable or monitor , or is hdmi simply better than dvi?

Sounds like its just an older/cheaper monitor having issues or could be a low-quality cable (but I would bet bad monitor).

DVI and HDMI are both digital and should have equal image quality

Yes both running at 1080p
