Hdmi to dvi adapter. Can the signal go either way?

Need to buy a dvi to hdmi adapter and want to know if this will do that?

It says hdmi to dvi but i want to know if it will go dbi to hdmi to connect my gpu to my hdtv

Well... it's only got HDMI input, and DVI output. That means you can plug it into a dvi port on either end and use an HDMI cable from it to the other bit of electronics.

So you're saying i cant use it because it only has an hdmi input? I need to have hdmi out and dvi in. Tis item not the right one then?

Basically you have a graphics card on your computer that has DVI out but not HDMI out, and a HDTV that has HDMI in but not DVI in?

If that's true, it seems the solution would be as simple as something like this:

Actually my gpu has an hdmi out but it wont display through it when i try start it up. I dont know why this is. I have just got this gpu and havent even got to use my computer because it wont display through hdmi. I dont want to use amazon because it takes ages to ship to new zealand and thats a long time to go without a computer

Hey thanks. I didnt find those when i looked, awesome. Before i buy would you know of any way to get my gpu to display through hdmi on start up?

As for your other post, it sounds like you might have a dead port - it happens from time to time. If it's a problem, you can RMA the card.

What is rma? Ive orded a dvi to hdmi adapter but would still like to use the hdmi port

RMA means returning the card for refund or replacement. You'd be able to do that if it were still under the (probably 30-day) return policy of wherever you bought it.

No hope of that lol. Bought in nz auction site. Dvi to hdmi should arrive tomorrow morning and fingers crossed it works :/ it should work because at the computer store it worked. So must be my faulty dvi cord unless my computer just hates me
