I have a gtx 970 and using HDMI 1.4 and using a 4k uhd hdr capable samsung tv as a 2nd display. A few days ago I can set the resolution to 4k 60hz using HDMI 1.4. I set it to 4k 60hz because it has that option on nvidia control panel so I thought it was okay. But since yesterday it went automatically to 1080p 60hz and everytime I set it back to 4k or even higher than 1080p resolution it just goes black and tv says that is has no signal.

Is it possible that I busted my HDMI cable for trying to set the resolution to 4k 60hz? I tried reinstalling my drivers and doing some other troubleshooting on the internet but nothing worked.

I hope someone can help me what happened and experience something similar.

I can't set it to 3840x2160 at 30hz right now using the 1.4 HDMI cable, it just went no signal then reverts back to 1080x1920. Is it possible that I ruin my HDMI cable for making it go 3840x2160 at 60hz? Thanks, I'll just order a 2.0 and hope everything works fine again.
