Headphone jack question on my LG 24gm77-B.

So I connected the monitor with my monitor with a displayport. and I have the usb upstream connected for my 2 usb ports.
Everything works fine, beside the headphone jack... it is not working at all.
I went to volume control and I see the "amd dp output", so I am guessing that is my headphone jack from the monitor. I set it as default and is still not working.

So, my question is that, what is wrong with the headphone jack? I did something wrong? or it is the monitor headphone jack is not working?

Second, its just out of curiosity.... what is the usb upstream port for? Is it to activate the 2 usb ports on the monitor? Thank you

for your first question, two things. 1. try plugging in a different pair of headphones or earpods to see if its your headphones. 2. if it doesnt bother you just use your motherboard jack

I have my speaker connected to my motherboard headphone jack so I meant to use the headphone jack on the monitor for my headset. Tried my headset and I even unplug the speaker headphone jack from the motherboard and plug into my monitor headphone jack. not working.
