headphone problem help

i am going to buy a adudio technica ath-40x, it has a detachable cable, but the problem is that the cable doesnt have a mic. i need a headphone with a mic. so if i but a cable with a mic that will plug into the headphone will the mic work? pls help me

You could get a cheap clip-on mic, or go the ModMic route for better quality. Not too sure if you'd have decreased quality with a mic cord. It would probably depend on the quality of the cable.
