Headphones playing only out of one ear

In order for them to play out of both ears, i need to push the cord in with force, and the moment i let go it goes back to one ear. ANy thoughts?

Lick the headphone jack and put it in and see if it works, my first thoughts would be broken jack on the pc/laptop/audio device.

After you have owned a few headphones, you will notice the the most common problem is the cable breaking by the jack, because of constant twisting. Is not if but when. Reason why people buying expensive headphones look for removable/replaceable cables, they don't want to throw an expensive pair out just because of stupid broken cable.

Got soldering iron and know how to use? maybe able to fix it yourself.
