Hello all, I'm new here. If I posted this in the wrong place I am sorry!

Okay so here's my problem.

Since about couple months ago my headset started to echo sounds from in game or steam messages i received while in game getting louder and louder. Mainly happens in cs 1,6. I got new headset to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't.

I have no clue how to fix this and it's gettin a bit annoying :\.

I got an Asus xonar dg card by the way and running windows 7 64 bit.

Things I have tried to fix but none worked.

Also forgot to mention. headset sounds fine when I listen to music not sure if that's any more help to help me out :\

Putting all stereo mix volume to 0.

Mutting all stereo mix

Disabled stereo mix.

switched the cable on soundcard from hd audio to ac97

Tried uni drivers for asus souncard.

Removed soundcard and drivers and installed onboard sound drivers.

Reformatted..

I also made sure to check mic monitoring was and mic boost were off and my microphone volume is usually at 75 when it worked good.

Weird thing is the mic sounds fine on skype. Haven't really tried other stuff since I just got this new headset today and formatted.

Any suggestion on what I should try?

Much appreciated to any replies!

Solution
You can place it in any of them, I did it with my SoundBlaster ZxR because my graphics card's cooler is such a lump it takes over my PCI slot, bar the fact that I wanted to allow for water cooling room :).

Yeah that should be fine and NO NO, in your smartphone, dont you have one? you don't have to wait to go to your sisters. Take the headset out of the extender and simply plug it into your phone. Your impedance is fine, the cans are rated at 39ohms.

Try looking for more recent ones on the ASUS website, you might just find them!

To me it sounds like a soundcard issue though it may be a connection problem.
couple of ideas before I'd RMA both the Soundcard or headset.

1) try other headphones on the sound card
2) try removing the soundcard and replacing it in the PCIE slot.
3)Ensure your headphones' impedance aren't higher than what is produced(highly doubtable) or visa versa (more likely).
4)Try the headset on another device (use the 4 pin and plug it into your phone and see if the issue occurs).
----------------------------------------------

If all of these ideas dont produce the single problem, RMA the devices. Before doing these, make sure you have ALL the up to date drivers :)

Okay, I'll have to try the headset at my sisters since I only got 1 pc here. What do you mean about placing the soundcard in the pcie slot o.o sorry if that sounds dumb..the box on the soundcard says its a pci card. Am I able to place it in a pcie slot? And as for the headphones' impedance I'm guessing u mean the option on the soundcard that lets u choose like Exiter mode >64ohms n Pro gaming mode 32~64ohms?

I have it set to gaming mode which is at 32~64ohms if that helps?

Thanks for all the advice, I'll try all those out n see if that helps.

Also the soundcard driver I'm using is the most recent one from asus site, which i think its from 2013. They don't really make any newer ones unless I were to uses some modded drivers I think.

Okay I'll try that in the morning since I can't use mic normally at night since i share a room.

Also, do you think putting the soundcard in a different pc and testing it on that pc would be a good idea? Cause when i removed the soundcard and went back to onboard sound drivers on my pc it still had the same problem.

Yes, but if it was a motherboard problem your GPU would be affected too so we can rule out the MOBO.

It's most likely a headset issue then, I'd RMA to Audio Technica @: http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/site/19d7dea0ac05eaa3/index.html

So I'm not really sure what the problem was, but I did what you suggested and moved the soundcard to another slot and also plugged the headset from front panel to back panel and moved speaker cable to front panel and somehow that seemed to fix it. I honestly have no clue which one of those fixed it, but If i had to guess maybe moving the sound card to another slot fixed it maybe?

Anyways thank you very much for all the quick replies and suggestions man. I really appreciated the help and now I can finally enjoy using these headset! They sound amazing compared to my old turtle beach x12's :)!

They will do haha! I remember I used to have turtlebeach XP500's and then everything changed when the PC nation attacked. Sorry had to.

Audio technica produce some great products. Though I'm happier with my Sennheiser HD700's and blue yeti, I wouldn't be sad if I had to use an audio technica headset.

The sound card drivers oftenly make the difference between sounding good and sounding brilliant. Try and fine tune them! Should notice a HUGE difference!
