Question Headset problem

I just got my new pc and plugged my headset in. I think i have latest windows 10 version but i remember in older versions you had a screen appear each time you plug in you headphones that had headphones setting you could choose headset/headphones/earbuds.

I had headset and felt comfortable with earbuds settings but when i got my new computer and plugged in my headphones i didnt have settings screen appear so i couldnt change my headset to earbuds and now sounds are like far away? I dont know how to exlain -- how do i choose the earbud setting for my headset?

Make and model of your headset(audio equipment) and how you're connecting to the system? Check and see which version of Windows 10 you're currently on.
