Hi all,

I have a KT3 Ultra 2 running a XP1700+ and I'd like to upgrade to 3000+. I
already have the 5.7 bios and PC2700 RAM. I can pick up the 3000+ for
approx $100, but I have some questions about what heatsink to use:

1. What heatsink do you all recommend? I'm not a gamer, so I don't know if
I need to go overboard. I'm upgrading because I want the extra performance
for Photoshop work.
2. Should I use a copper shim, or just the heatsink compound? What does
the copper shim do anyway?

I'll probably try to sell the 1700+ and the old heatsink on ebay. It still
works well - I just want the speed increase.

Thanks,

Radu

If you're not overclocking it a stock ATI HSF will be fine.
Here are three good links to check out all you might want to know about
Heatsinks:
http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/
Athlon HSF roundup: http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/socketA.asp

You're main concern, if pushing the high performance envelope isn't
important, is noise. The second link has dB ratings, find something quiet.
