Hello, i am at the point that i need to start looking into a new cpu, i "was" looking to get a 9800x3d, but unexpected things in life happened, so i'm back to saving, i still like the 9800x3d since it would last me a long while but was thinking it might be overkill, i play games watch movies and surf the net, right now i have a i5 6600k and it's been good, but lately it's been showing it's age and gets bottlenecked often.

just asking for a saving guide,

What is your question? If there's something equivalent to the 9800X3D but on a strict budget? If you're on 1080p now and want to go to 1440p, then you can look at the Ryzen 5 7600(non-x)/7600x. Pair that with a B850 chipset motherboard and a DDR5-6000MHz dual channel ram with tight latencies, and you should be good to go.

You could just drop in an i7-7700K, provided you're on a Z series chipset motherboard and DDR4-3200MHz rams.

I'm still using a 5800x3d, 4070ti TI on 3440 x 1440p display primarily for gaming and still runs smoothly.

If on a budget the 7800x3d is still a solid choice.

Depending on your budget you have a lot of good options, AM4 and LGA 1700 still have some good budget options available, and there is also the ryzen 5 series on AM5. Can you tell us what your current full specs are, what your budget is for your upgrade, what parts you're looking to upgrade, and what country you are located in?

If you want to try one last in socket upgrade, you could try seeing if your board will boot a Xeon with similar specs to an i7. They're often not listed as supported, but I've found that more often then not, they are. They are also cheap, 20 bucks or less for a decent one, and it will help, but for any major performance changes, you'll need to swap out your platform.

Xeon E3 1270 V5
