Hey all, I am attempting to build a computer for the first time since I was 10. It was like a pentium 200 with a 8x cd-rom and a tiny hard drive so I could play C:\games\duke3d lol; so its been awhile.
Anyway, my overall goal is essentially a budget gaming PC that can run more modern games like Starcraft 2 or Supreme Commander and Diablo 3 when released at moderate to higher graphics settings without annoyingly low frames per second ( I dont really care about running high on first person shooters like Crysis 2 or battlefield 3). Right now im running sc2 off my previously college-only laptop and get about 1-20 fps max and its making it hard to get anywhere above high plat/low diamond to say the least lol (Justification!)
Anyway, about the build I tried to map out, It'll come out to around 450$ including 64 bit win7 (something about 32 bit not being able to utilize large quantities of RAM properly) and this is all at newegg.com
Sapphire Radeon HD 6570 1Gb DDR3 - 69.99
Kingston 8 GB (2x4) 240 pin DDR3 1333 - 42.99
Recertified Seagate barracuda 40 gig SATA 1.5 Gb/s - 21.99
topower ZU-500W power supply - 28.99
TP link USB 2.0 Wireless adapter - 18.99
Rosewill blackbone black computer case - 39.99
AMD Athlon II X3 455 3.3 GHz AM3 triple core + Biostar A880G+ Micro ATX AMD motherboard - 123.99
Other than an optical drive, is there anything else I'm missing? I have a decent monitor (have to check the type of cord to see if its compatable, or just use my TV) and a USB keyboard and mouse. And are there any parts that you would recommend over what ive picked? Also, any general tips or insight would be helpful, as I said, its been awhile lol.
- I do realize that the motherboard has integrated graphics (which suck, thank you laptop) and im assuming I set up the computer to use the radeon through the bios.
- I know that the motherboards PCI-e 2x16 slot can use the 2.1x16 on the radeon, and the pins are matching for the RAM
-I have done a good amount of researching (much of it on this website, but it never hurts to get primary data
- I do not plan on overclocking
- I have no idea what crossfire means ( a la "read this first" section lol)
Thanks!
