Help! 8 pin header splits into 2 ,4 pin headers

so my cpu cable has 8 pins on it, but it splits into 2 4 pin headers and the power supply only has a 6 pin header were im supposed to put it on. so my question is, do i just plug in one of the splits or what?

No wait. You're confusing cables. 6-pin cables are for PCIe cards. CPUs have 4 pins or 2x4 pins - also don't confuse a 4+2 pin or 6+2 pin PCIe connectors for CPU power connectors.

ii have a cord that says cpu on it, it has 2 rows of four on it, my power supply has input with 2 rows of three and theres two, under the inputs it says 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU
were do plug in the cpu cord then?

Just plug in the 4+4 pin connector into the 8 pin cpu connector on your mobo. Its is split because some mobos only have a 4 pin cpu connector for compatability. The pcie connectors are for graphics cards etc.

I apologize. Yesterday was not a good day for responding on the forums. Also, it's kind of hard to make sense of what you say. I think your concern is with where and how the cables plug into the PSU, not with how the cables plug into the motherboard? Am I right? (Also noet the use of punctuation and capitalization to help with clarity. )

Note that the CPU cable is part of the fixed cables. You don't need to plug it on the PSU side. The 8-pin cable splits into 2 4x4 connectors on the motherboard side.

THe other cables that look fairly similar are the PCIe cables - those you connect on both the PSU and to the PCIe card(s) as necessary.

Here is a better view of where the cables have to connect. If you still have fifficulty, can you use this image to explain your concern?

for the picture, on the first row, on mine it says "6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU" and the cpu cable comes out of the PSU and i dont know were to plug the CPU cord into, the one that splits into 2 4x4
