hello, i've been out of the loop with PC builds since I haven't changed mine in ages. looking for a brand new upgrade, starting from scratch, hoping someone here can help me with that

what i plan to use it for: gaming. definitely don't care for running games in 4k or anything wild like that, though it would be nice if PC can run games at high settings while being smooth just to see how it would look like without my PC screaming for help and stuttering all over the place. i also have 144hz monitor, so it would be cool if the setup can achieve those FPS with ease

budget: 800$ (in reality it's 1k usd, but the parts where im from are more expensive, so safer to aim for 800$)

Where are you from, that will help.

What resolution monitor do you have?

Typical $800 build right now is going to be something like a 12th gen i5, AM4 Ryzen 5700X and an RX 6650XT.

That would be a fairly competent 1080p gaming box, and you can tweak settings down if you want to achieve higher FPS.

Probably not for 1080p gaming. There might be a few games out there that can use more than 8GB of VRAM at 1080p high/ultra, but you would just turn the settings down a little so that it comfortably runs in 8GB.

Next step up would be something like the 6750XT or 7700XT.

i have enough in my budget for the 6750XT, can i swap it without needing an upgrade on the cpu or other parts?

probably a really newbie question but i've done PC setups solo before and I wasn't even aware of bottlenecking back then, i wanna get it right

That will be fine.

5700X3D is the second fastest gaming CPU available to the AM4 socket. It rivals Intel's 13th and 14th gen CPUs in gaming. Only the newer 7800X3D can do much better and it is quite marginal.

You can see the difference in average gaming performance here:

5700X3D will fall in right behind the 5800X3D/13600K

One last question and the thread can be locked since im about to order it

Can you recommend a RAM upgrade? I'd like to opt for the 32gb version, what should I go for?
