Hey guys, I am building my first EVER PC in the next months to come. I am a rookie, but I have done enough research to sharpen up my basic knowledge on PC's.

The point of this build is for Video editing, sound production and occasional gaming.

Here is the list of components:

- MOBO: Asus Z87M Plus (I can't find the z87 WS anywhere).

- GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti 915MHz 2GB

- RAM: Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) Vengeance Pro

- CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K S1150 3.5GHz 8MB

- HD: Sandisk 128GB SSD SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive

- Case: Do I need a certain one?

- PowerSupply: Do I need a certain one?

The focus of this build is speed and power. And I like to multi-task a lot. Is there anything I should add/change? Don't be shy now...

Thanks.

1. What is your total budget
2. You will need at least a 1TB of hard drive storage if you are editing stuff ... There's no way you are going to have enough space on that ssd
3. Any good 750W-850W power supply in the 80-150$ should do the trick with your build (Corsair TX750M is amazing, same for the TX850M)

If you want to go cheaper on the power supply, the CX serie from corsair is the choice. There's nothing lower than that that offers this much power with that quality.

Case: it needs to fit everything you want to put in, with a bit extra room to spare for good ventilation and potential future upgrades.
PSU: calculate the power requirements for your configuration, then I recommend adding about 30-50% on top of that to ensure stability and power reserve. I do that all the time and never had any PSU-related issues. Like, never. Besides, it gives me headroom for future upgrades, as well.
HDD: you might want to add an HDD for storage needs, data, etc.

Forgot about my budget, I would say between £1000-1200. Fair point on the TB, Do I have to get a certain brand or it does not matter? Oh, and how about an optical drive?

I guess the drive is going to be used mainly for storage, I recommend either a Western Digital Blue Caviar or Western Digital Green Caviar. Choose between 1TB or 2TB but i'm sure you're going to need more than 1Tb in the future so the 2TB is a wise choice. The optical drive is optional depending on the kind of work you're going to do with the computer. I would still recommend one for installing Windows and that kind of stuff.

Did you ever heard about Fractal ? They make awesome cases. Go take a look on their page and your should be able to make your choice pretty easily ... Or you can go on newegg and scroll through the cases until you find one that you want and that is good rated.

With that budget you could get a way better graphics card, or a better processor-motherboard set but that i7 will do the job just fine in my opinion. I suggest you take either a GTX 770 or a HD 7970 for the graphics card. It won't be so different in rendering and editing, but you fps in gaming will be way better than a 660Ti.

Edit : Little mistake here, Caviar Blue drives donm't exist in 2Tb sizes
