Question HELP. All games are running with low CPU usage (causes frame drop)

So, when I game on my laptop I recently noticed that I get a lot of sudden frame drops. When I open the task managers the game runs between 15 and 20% CPU usage. And because of it being a laptop, the game only gets 5 fps. After approximately 20 seconds or so the CPU usage goes up again, and with it the FPS. This happens frequently on a 2-3 minute interval. So what is the cause for the low CPU usage? I have put the games on a higher priority in task manager and have monitored the cpu temps with core temp. When gaming I get below 60C (usually around 58C) with a MIN temp of 40 and MAX temp of 87. My idle temperature is 40.

Help would be greatly appreciated!

Did it used to work properly and then suddenly changed? Did you add or remove software recently?

Yes it worked properly before. I had not played any games for 1-2 months. The only software I added was teensy loader for flashing firmware on my teensy...

maybe an update hosed your video drivers. did you try to install an older driver to see if that fixes it? if it was updated, roll it back and see if issue goes away
