System:
AMD FX 4100 3.7ghz
8gb ram DDR3 1333
465W PSU
ASRock mo.bo.
GT740 SSC 4GB DDR3
1tb Toshiba hdd
I was cleaning the horrid amount of dust out of my pc. Well I thought it would be a good idea to take the cpu cooler out and clean the dust from the fins of the radiator. Well I peeled it off with a little bit of force and when I did I didn't know that they were held down with thermal paste..... so now I put the computer back together. Everything is plugged back in the correct spots. And the cooler is secured down onto the motherboard.
Now when I try to turn it on:
-it runs
-hdd is running
-gpu is running
-cpu coolers fan is running
-cooling fans is running
-power led by the power button is running
But, there is only a black screen on the monitor. I tried plugging it into my tv and 2 different monitors. And that didn't work.
I then tried taking out the gpu and using the mobo's on board graphics (via a vga cable).
Still no luck.
Would you say I need a new processor or that I may have fried my motherboard. I don't think it is my motherboard because everything is still getting power.
I never thought that not having a good connection to the thermal paste would affect it in the way it is. But I guess does.
Thanks
