help bsod problem

I always get a constant blue screen when booting to xp
with different error message each time. I have to reboot
several times before I manage to get into windows.
Sometimes its also occur when installing programs or playing games.
First i thought its a memory problem
so I got a new memory but the problem still there,
the blue screen still showed up sometimes but not as
often as before (less often). I tested my memory (using <A HREF="http://www.memtest86.com" target="_new">memtest86</A>)
and it didn't detect any error. Just until 2 weeks ago memtest
detected error in my memory and its getting worse by the
time i write this. I get as many blue screen as before i
replaced my memory. Please help i don't know whats wrong
i thing something is damaging my memory ... what do i need
to replace? processor? mobo? could l1 cache or l2 cache
be the problem? coz when i turn off the caches, the comp
runs just fine but it's hella slow.

My spec btw:
Athlon XP 1800+
MSI K7T266 Pro 2 KT266A
Triplex GeForce4 ti4200 64mb
Generic 256mb PC2700
SB64 PCI
no o/c ..

I had a motherboard once that was frying any stick of ram that I put in there. So are you saying that now that you have new memory you are starting to get errors when you didn't have them before? If that is the case then it is more than likely a bad mobo. Besides the Ram what have you added into your system recently.

You may have a bad motherboard. Do you ever get read/write errors when installing items or moving files around? When the motherboard in my main system died a few months ago, it produced very similar problems.

Check the power supply, too. I kept getting BSOD from Warcraft III: TFT - running a mobo monitor showed me my voltage was out of spec, and when I pulled it apart, my power supply was a bit charred.

It happens. Just a thought.

hmm i don't think ive ever got read/write error
cant remember though
btw these are the situations where i got bsod mostly
- booting (cold boot mostly)
- adobe photoshop
- converting audiocd to mp3s
- warcraft3 (when loading)
- nba live 2003 (after finish a game)
oh before i replaced my memory i couldnt install
warcraft3, it kept saying some files are corrupt
and when i reinstalled xp id never able to finish the
installation, it always froze somewhere but sometimes
i could get through by luck but again it froze when
i was doing windows update
BunnyStroker how do i check whether my voltage
is out of spec or not, which voltage should i check?
