I have moved into my new apartment. Where my landlord provided with a Ftth (fiber to the home)modem and a ups for it . i got new connection and now my fiber connection are fine. But, when I try to enter modem config page to configure my new connection .(given IP 192.168.1.251) the browser says "the web page is not available" . I went to network connection to check but it says local area connection unidentified network. I ran the diagnosis and it said "local area connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration even though my modem is wired to my PC. Help me 🙁 🙁
I even pinged the IP but nothing received. When cmd - ipconfig is run Autoconfiguration ipv4 address 169.254.74.157(preferred) show. HALP

Solution
Usually, with FTTH connections, you don't configure anything in the ONT (Optical Network Terminal, sometimes wrongly called a modem).

I suspect you need to set that IP in your router, or if you don't have one, in Windows' IPv4 settings. You'll also need a subnet mask from your ISP, and a DNS server.
