I have a custom built PC, its pretty outdated because it was built a while ago by my cousin, the graphics card it has now, which I can only tell my tilting my head under it and reading whats written is an ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 (something that does confuse me is that when I look up whats written on the graphics card the pictures that show up show one that looks pretty different then whats in my computer, but thats besides the point). Anyways a friend is getting a new card and was wondering if I wanted his, he has a sapphire Radeon hd 7770. I know little to nothing about these types of things and was wondering if anyone here can tell me if it would be worth it to take my friends card and completely deconstruct my current gaming setup to replace it, or if it is not. Thank you :)

It has better graphics and fps in game of course. Your current graphics card should come out just fine just remember to take out to screw that secures it to the case. Then slot the new card in, put in the screws for the case and plug in the PCIE power cable and fire her up
EDIT: No you dont need to dismantle the whole system
How much is he offering for the graphics card? And the reason why pictures look differnt to your radeon5870 is because there are many variations from different manufacturers (although they still use the same tech)

He would give it for free, and thanks for the clarification on that!

Take it then dude. Just make sure you have a pci-e power connector on your power supply. If your not sure what it looks like. Also if you think my answer is good enough please press the Pick as solution button. It helps alot :)

So the sapphire Radeon hd 7770 has superior performance and better graphics than the ATI Radeon™ HD 5870?
Is it enough of a difference for me to un do my whole setup and then try to figure out how to take out the current card and replace it?
Thanks!

a 5870 is faster than a 7770

the best thing to do would be to take them both, sell them, and try to get something like a 7950
