Help choosing "Ethernet Splitter"...

What would be the "Best Suited" Ethernet Splitter for connecting 2 pc's into one modem?


Would this work? or would this be a "network bottelneck?"

Or should i go with something like this?

The first one doesn't let you plug two computers into a single connection (like on a modem). It lets you pass two ethernet connections through a single wall port. You need two of them. Cables from two ports on the router or switch plug into the first one, and other end plugs into the wall outlet. The second one into the connecting wall outlet. And you can plug two computers into the resulting two ethernet ports.

If you only have one and plug it into the single LAN port on a modem, nothing will happen.

If the modem is a modem/router, then you can get a switch like in the second picture. If the modem is just a modem (no router), then you need a router.

Modem is a Motorola (style: MSTATEA)....

I have a router, it just slows my connection down to half (idk why?)
So I want to "compleatly" bypass any "WIFI", and just direct connect two computers to my modem...

How do i go about doing that?

To connect more than one device to a modem, you must have a router.
The modem serves up one and only one IP address. The router is what serves up multiples.
