I upgraded from my AMD gpu to nvidia 1080.

After the upgrade I noticed that colors (especially RED) are displayed incorrectly.
I've fiddled with the windows color profiles and nvidia control panels color settings but I'm unable to get the reds to display properly.

I managed to get the hardware accelerated stuff on Chrome to display properly by changing windows color profiles, but this seem not to effect games etc.

I've tried multiple different drivers, older, latest and beta. No change. I did full clean installs with the help of DDU.

I'm connected with hdmi to my 24" monitor running at 1080p60.

Please note that I can get the correct red colors to display on 2D desktop setting without hardware acceleration, but as soon as I launch a game or other hw accelerated content the reds will display incorrectly. So I doubt this has anything to do with the "color problems with hdmi" related limited color range people seem to have problems with. I've also tried different hdmi cables with no success.

Please help.

I've attached a picture to demonstrate the problem.

Can you go into nvidia control panel, and under desktop color settings, instead of letting applications color correct, select "use nvidia settings" and force it to whatever you want? Or did you do this already when you said nvidia control panel color settings and that's where you were unable to get it to show reds?

I've tried it already, no matter what I choose or change under the "Change resolution" color settings, or under the "Adjust desktop color settings" it does not fix this problem. They do change the overall color settings and brightness etc. But they will not make the reds look as they should. They always remain as pictures in the example photo. Brownish tint and not so vibrant/bright.

I had a chat sessions with them, they just offered the usual uninstall with DDU and reinstall drivers solution. I had the latest drivers and they wanted me to upgrade to the latest beta. The problem persisted on both drivers.

More info: When I plug my monitor into my intel hd 4600 igpu the colors are displayed correctly. Didn't touch any settings, just swapped the cable from the 1080 into the mobo's hdmi.

Yeah likely something is wrong with the card. I mean maybe there is some setting that you can adjust to compensate, I don't know, but do you really want to be waiting for something else to fail with the card if you know something is already wrong right off the start? The issue did not happen after a certain amount of time or after update or driver change. It happened as soon as you put in the card, and color change is not normal 1080 behaviour.

Ok. I plugged the hdmi back into the 1080 and now the colors are displaying correctly. Go figure. I think the culprit was Window's color management. I will monitor the situation if things change after reboots etc.
