Hey,

So I just bought a new computer with a graphics card that has two DVI ports. I need two monitors for my work from home. The problem is I have two monitors that have VGA leads, and need to convert them to fit the graphics card.

Each of the DVI ports are slightly different and I wanted to know which adapters I should get for each monitor, or even if it's possible to get one dual adapter and just fit both monitors into one port?

If I can't get a dual adapter I believe the one below will work for one port/cable. What about the other one?

https://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16814999201&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-Skimlinks-_-na-_-na-_-na&AID=10446076&PID=3987228&SID=skim1402X558040X491283cf656e08d43a218cd0ee2a32a5

Hope that all makes sense, if not let me know and thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this!

Cheers,
Jay

need to know what card you have most all of the newer cards do not have native analog support and require a ''active'' adaptor to convert there digital only to analog for vga?

dvi-''i'' analog and digital and your adaptor you linked would work

dvi-''d'' digital only hdmi digital only -- display port digital only and all require a active adaptor for analog use

that card has a dvi-I and you should of got that adaptor you linked above in the box with the card use it and should be good [ my 980 ti works with the adaptor you showed with my old hp crt monitor with analog only vga cord

the dvi -I is the one with the 4 holes around the ''flat bar'' hole and that's what carries the analog signal from it

you should be good to go

you may have to buy a adaptor to run the 2ed monitor form another port but then you will need a active adaptor on them

one monitor pre port for independent use

If you use "splitter" it will cause to display same image on both monitors, which I think you don't want.

What you need in this case are 2 different adapters
1st DVI-I to VGA, this one will work with top port only.
2nd is active DVI-D to VGA adapter, these are more expensive but will work with bottom port (will work with top too, but no need for it as DVI-I to VGA are cheaper).

One you linked is DVI-I to VGA and should be right for that top port.

Other one should be something like this (just example, there are many other and I did not personally test this one)

Perfect. Thanks to everyone for the help.

I'll be using the one you linked, just for ease of getting the correct adapter, just to check so I can order both from the same place, can anybody just confirm for me that the one linked below will work for the DVI-I port with a VGA monitor cable (worried about ordering one that is the wrong way around).

Thanks again,

it should ? its just like what I use here and did they not give you one in the box along with your card ?? gigabyte is the only company too cheap to add one in the box for there cards [gigabyte is just cheap]

just put the dvi-I end of the adaptor in the dvi-I port of the card tighten it up and then plug the vga cord /plug part from your monitor to it should work fine

look at pic 4 of the box contents and see the adaptor is /should be included

the hdmi to vga maybe a bit cheaper and do as good ?? best to read reviews looks about the same as foar as works ?

https://www.amazon.com/Rankie-Gold-Plated-Active-Adapter-Converter/dp/B00ZMV7RL2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1475004290&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=active+hdmi+to+VGA&psc=1

anyway your call on what YOU feel is better for YOU heck you may get a card that has no dvi port on it and glad you got hdmi one ??

Unfortunately it wasn't included as I got my computer built for me by a company. I've emailed them asking why they didn't include it if it's included with the contents as standard, so just waiting for their reply and if they send me one I'll send my bought adapter back and get a refund.

Unfortunately the ones linked won't ship to the UK for some reason, so just for one last time (I think I've got it now :) ) are these both viable for what I want? (Basically will they make the VGA monitor work with a DVI-I and DVI-D ports and not intended for the other way around)

Not fussed about the cost at this point, would just like to get my computer and monitors up and running, so thanks again.
