[SOLVED] HELP! CPU 100% while GPU 30%, low FPS

I just bought a gtx 1070 and i started to lag and get fps drops in games. I check task manager and my GPU is at 30% while my CPU is at 100%. I could really use some help fixing this.

here are my specs:
Z270 extreme4
GTX 1070
i5-6600k
2tb notebook hdd
256gb M.2 ssd
16gb ddr4 ram

a 6600K, but a 4c/4t cpu, is going to run at 100% in most games these days, so, unless you are sure your 'lag' (online gaming only?) is in fact not your FPS now overwhelming your connection bandwidth to that particular server, I'd be careful trying to fix solely a 'high cpu usage' scenario....(try capping your FPS to 60 in your ingame settings?)

The 6600K is not going to be able to saturate a 1070 at 1080P (you did not mention the res), and if at 1080P, you will likely never see anywhere near 100% GPU usage...

Mdd1963 i had a R9 390 before and when I got better FPS. Before If anything my gpu got to 100 and my cpu was at ~60. Anyways what do you recommend i do

What games are causing this?

It’s games like fortnite that are not even that CPU demandant. The only thing in task manager that is using my cpu is Fortnite. Fortnite will be at ~80% usage and it will say that my CPU is at 100%
