Ok! so... I just got my new Modem (both a modem and a router) and when i bought it i instantly installed it into my room and when i connect my computer wired with a ethernet cat5e cable after a few hours or even minutes it disconnects and i wont have any internet! So can someone help me find the solution to stop this and go back to a wired connection and not WiFi cause again WiFi has not disconnected yet but i still wish to fix this cause its a brand new modem and i want to be perfect!

Thnx for reading and i hope for some solution!

Faulty ethernet cord? Have another you can try? Are you positive the wifi is not dropping at all? Do the lights on the modem change when you notice it drop? If you can check that it will surely help me come up with solution :)

Well for if i have another device i do have my PS4 and that never disconnects and it is wired and i use it the entire time. as for the modem lights i do sometimes see it flash orange when i have my computer connected and sometimes green.

I try and find a ethernet cable and test if it disconnects :)

Ok so i tried with another wire and the light is all orange and it disconnects more and more frequantly! soooooo i don't know! can it be the network card of my motherboard! AND btw i have a All In One Asus Computer from 2012! if that helps at all! (i know i have a bad computer but i was young and i didn't know nothing about computers at that time 😛)

I looked at the port behind my PC and it looks fine i also found a comparison picture on google and its the same! and i also tried different port on my router and still the same thing happens :/

OK, so you've definitely determined that it's not the cable, since the problem persists with the PS4's cable connected to the PC. And it's probably not the router, since it's happening in multiple ports (& again, not affecting the PS4).

Which leaves a) the driver, b) malware on the PC, or (more likely) c) the Ethernet port itself.

To see if it's a driver issue:
-- If it's an onboard port, go to the motherboard manufacturer's website & download the latest NIC/Ethernet driver. If it's an add-on board, go to the manufacturer's website to get the driver.
-- Go into Device Manager, delete the Ethernet Adapter, & then have it rescan for hardware.
-- When it prompts for the driver, use the updated driver you downloaded.

If it works, it was the driver. If it doesn't, it's something else. Do standard scans & tests for malware, including MalwareBytes & other solutions. A quick way to test, however, is to boot in "Safe Mode with Networking", as 99% of malware won't come into play in Safe Mode. If the problem goes away in Safe Mode, you have malware; if it's still happening, it's not malware.

Which leaves the hardware itself. If it's built into the motherboard, and you're still within the normal warranty, you can always RMA it, but you'll be without a board while you're waiting. The alternative (& the only choice if it's not built into the board) is to pick up a fairly cheap PCI/PCIe Ethernet adapter.

Most of the time I see this, it's a bent pin or debris in the ethernet port. Get a can of compressed air and try blowing out the ethernet ports on both ends. Failing that, use a flashlight to inspect the ethernet ports carefully. Make sure the 8 diagonal pins are all up and parallel, and aren't covered with paint or glue or something. The plastic rectangle of the ethernet jack can cause problems too. Sometimes it's slightly too big or misshapen and doesn't insert into the port fully.

Go to Device Manager, network adapters and find the ethernet one.
- right click for properties - advanced
Disable Energy efficient ethernet (and or green energy) and Wake on magic packet.
