I think this is an application is crashing.

Does it occur in safe mode?
See if you can boot into safe mode and run a full sfc /scannow and then chkdsk. If chkdsk finds an issue run chkdsk /f to fix.
You could also try rebooting in normal mode without any start up items to see if it's something at startup that's causing it.

just did a scan and it came up wit this:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Go ahead and run chkdsk as well and then sfc /scannow again.
