Hi, I'm kind of a noob here, and I'm really confused by the graphics card options and need help deciphering

I have a MSI PC Mate B350 MB, a Ryzen 1600 CPU, and currently a GTX 1050 Ti graphics card.

I want to upgrade my graphics. Nvidia says the 2060 has superseded the 1060, but im concerned the different memory type (GDDR6 instead of currently GDDR5) will not work with my MB/CPU config. I've looked and cant find anything that says it is compatible, but haven't found anything that says it isn't. I can't seem to get any clear answers out the MSI website lookup, either.

i assume the AMD RX 570/580/590 will work, GDDR5 memory

but i'm not sure about the RX Vega (56 or 64) as it has some different memory ive never heard of lol (hbm2)

am i even thinking about this correctly?

thank you for any assistance you can give.

Solution
The type of RAM on the GPU has zero relation to the RAM on your motherboard. You can use any GPU made in the last 10 years. The only thing you're limited by is your budget.
right i do get that the GPU's ram and the "regular" ram aren't directly related, but what i wasnt sure about was whether my MB would be able to use the newer GPU ram with it's different memory interface width and speeds

I guess im feeling insecure about my MSI PC Mate B350 MB, i probably shouldnt have cheaped out on my build...

Don't even worry about it. You're thinking about it all wrong. The Video card's memory (Vram) has nothing to do with the system's memory. Buy whatever card you can afford and enjoy it.
