So I recently got a 4k monitor, only to realize that I cannot actually run the games I want with such a high resolution. Even older games like Arkham City feel a bit laggy, while games like Inquisition are stuck around 10-20 fps with the highest settings.

There are tons of videos of people being able to run that kind of stuff on max, so Im trying to find if there are some specific parts that are holding me back.

My specs:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.9GHz
Memory: 12288MB RAM
G. Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
Hard-drive: ADATA SP900

Seems like I should be getting more out of these specs, but in not too tech savy.

Solution
No high-detail and high FPS gaming on 4K is possible without SLI, period.

Your CPU is fine, but you need a second 980 (provided your motherboard supports SLI). Oh, and make sure you have a quality 850W PSU for that purpose. Like Seasonic, XFX, EVGA B2/G2, Antec HCG and similar.
