Hello,

I have never built a PC before, and I am eager to learn more. Before I pull the trigger on buying any part, I would love it if some more knowlegable people would take a peek at it. Thanks in advance.

Here's a list of things that I hope this build will accomplish. Please let me know if my build falls short in any of the following areas.

  1. Compatible, including part to part connections and physical fit
  2. Capable of running current games at medium-high graphics settings at acceptable frame rate
  3. I do not plan to stream, but I would like to be able to record clips while maintaining reasonable performance
  4. No missing, underwhelming, or overkill parts
  5. No unwise brand choices

P.S. I know I will have to wait for the 3080. I plan to be patient.

P.P.S. I apologize if this kind of post is too basic for this message board.

Solution
The CPU cooler wont be able to cool the CPU. I have a Corsair H100x, 240mm AIO. It struggles, just with PBO on, in Prime95, Ryzen 5600x.
The page warns you about mobo and BIOS support for 5600x. I'm not familiar with Asrock, never owned one. You could ask if it comes with a BIOS compatible with 5600x. It should. But who knows how long it has been on the shelf.
16 gigs of RAM is on the low side these days. Games are getting up there in terms of RAM usage. Windows isn't light either, expect 4 gigs to be used off the bat. And some games pull 10+ gigs on top of that. Ghost Recon: breakpoint does it, I think AC:Valhalla also does. It was some game I played yesterday. It's only going to get worse. If you open a webbrowser or something, you...

If you open a webbrowser or something, you will shortly be at the 16 gig limit and running the game off of pagefile. That is not a pleasent experience. Expect single-digit FPS.

I would suggest 32 gigs RAM, better CPU cooler, ask about mobo BIOS support.
When it comes to cases, theres usually three issues. GPU length, PSU length and AIO length/CPU cooler height. Make sure it all fits in there.
I always go for fulltower, more room, better airflow generally and more room to work in.

Your case:
Clearance CPU Cooler Height 165 mm
PSU Clearance 200 mm
GPU Clearance 355 mm
Front radiator | 240: 122x315 mm
Front radiator | 280: 142x315 mm

I appreciate your feedback. I have a couple of follow-up questions, if you don't mind, as I am trying to learn more about building rather than just acquiring a shopping list.

First, why do you recommend splitting the storage into two SSDs? Is it an insurance policy against drive failure, or is it to compartmentalize certain programs into each drive?

Second, I'm just curious about your reasoning behind the monitor change.

And lastly, are there any recommendations that you made that are brand-critical? For instance, you changed the power supply to a SeaSonic, but would any 750 W 80+ Gold be sufficient? In other words, do you have a short-list of must-have brands for any particular part?

NVME SSDs are way more faster than traditional SATA SSDs. And a 2TB NVME might exceed your budget. You can make a 100gb - 150gb partition for your OS and use the rest for your frequently accessed files on the 500gb NVME drive, while the SATA SSD can be your backup drive.

The monitor you have picked is a VA panel while the monitor in my list is a IPS panel, which will give you better picture quality while retaining the same Refresh Rate and Response Time.

As for the PSU, the Seasonic unit is better than the EVGA unit you had picked...
