Help for a noob 1k video editing computer

System Usage from Most to Least Important: video editing, picture editing (using Adobe CS), gaming nothing specific doesn’t need to be highest setting

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, Power supply (if its good enough Corsair TX 650W

Monitor Resolution: 1680 x 1050 now, want a new monitor haven’t looked into them much though but will be an HD sometime after I get the computer set up.

Additional Comments: Stability is my first goal. Considering a mac since I am no longer into gaming too much anymore just trying to save some money building a pc and possibility to upgrade down the line.

Thanks for any input. I have seen mostly gaming builds, not sure if I can get a decent video editing machine in this price range...

Thanks for the build. Why use AMD rather then the i5? Most of the builds I see are with intel right now. And yes I do have that PSU already.

well, you either want to go with the i7 2600k or the Phenom II x6 because they are the best for video editing. The i5 2500k is good, but only has 4 cores (I heard Video editing is CPU intensive, so more cores is better) and cannot be hyperthreaded. The i7 2600k can be hyperthreaded (to 8 cores), but is about $100 more than the Phenom II, and since you have a budget of $1000, I wouldn't recommend it. And finally the Phenom II, a 6 core CPU that is cheap (yes, cheaper than the i5 2500k), and is great for CPU intensive programs

A $1000 video editing rig that doesn't have an i7-2600, so much failure. Why in the name of God do you need a $275 video card for video editing.

There's a reason the i7-2600 costs $100 more than the AMD, it obliterates it at everything.

Yea, I'm not super experienced, but in my opinion you are correct. It would be much more beneficial for you to bump down to a lower card like a $6870 (It costs $175, roughly $100 cheaper). After you bump the graphics card down you can upgrade to an i7-2600 which will help a lot in video editing.

PLEASE DON'T START TO HESITATE! I don't want you to see this post and think that now you have to go with an i7, but it is a viable option if you don't plan on needing an insane graphics card.

i would get this nvidia cards help with cuda processing which can be used by some intensive editing and creative programs

for upgrdes on that which i think will be worth it adding another 8gb of ram and maybe an ssd
