HELP HELP Computer wont start

Well I am such a noob and think I just cost myself a lot of money. I just built a brand new gaming PC from the ground up. Everything was working great I started to install my software drivers, ect. I was installing my corsair drivers for my h100gtx water-cooler and I noticed the fans were not registering in the utility screen so since I had my case open I looked and saw the wire was a bit loose so I pushed it in a bit and all of a sudden the hole computer went dead. Now nothing works, nothing lights up or turns on, I cant tell what the problem is? Is it possible I fried my mobo since I cant get anything to turn on? Or could I have screwed up my psu (seasonic 550w g series) how would I determine what the issues is so I could somehow fix it. I just dropped 1600 on all my parts so I dont want to think of the money I might have wasted. I am lost and praying that its maybe something small like I shorted out the mobo and I need a new one. Or could I have done some very serious harm here? Like I said I am a NOOB but I would really appreciate any help here as I am desperate. Thanks.

You could have shorted something on the motherboard due to electro-static discharge when pushing the fan header in.

thats a nice system. I'd be freaking too if i were you. One thing u can try is unplug your PSU from your motherboard (both 24 pin and 8 pin connector), and leave it out for a few minutes. Make sure your power button is still hooked up to your motherboard's FP connector. with the PSU disconnected from your motherboard and wall power, press your power button and hold it in for about 30 seconds. This drains your motherboard's capacitors and it hopefully will reset the short circuit condition. Plug your PSU back in to your motherboard, double check your connections make sure everything is plugged in right. You may have shorted the motherboard against the case, but usually that shouldn't be the case with the standoffs (they isolate the board against sitting on the bare case metal which can cause all sorts of problems. Once you are sure all of your connections are good, and nothing is out of place, or that nothing looks shorted. plug your PSU back in and then make sure the switch on the back of it is turned on as well. hit the power button and see if it fires up. Also, does your motherboard have any 2 digit LCD's on that show post codes? or any lights? some of the gaming boards have lights that show memory speed, cpu speed, temp, volt etc, sometimes if the power/reset button on the board is getting power, they may light up before powering on to show your board is getting its 5v standby power. One more thing you may try before powering back on is clearing your CMOS, which should reset the board. and Nekrosys is right ESD can cause problems, and failures. Sometimes it can just shut the board off (they have short circuit and overload protection), which requires pulling all power to get it to work again (kind of like a reset). Let me know if this works.

Is your PSU modulator or all built in? If modulator then try unplugging each mod at a time and trying to turn your PC on.

I will try all the things you have said, but if my pus is not working then that could be the issue? Is there a way to tell if the psu is working or not? I currently have a semi- modular psu

Scratch that my psu works just fine, I was able to find a work around to get it to turn on and my fans started up but that was about it.

Question how would I tell if my psu was working or not? Could I have blown out my psu possibly? If I pug it into the wall and switch it on with out it hooked up to my mother board would it work or not because I have tried that and it would not start up at all.

What I did was unplug every mod from it so it was JUST powering the MB with the 24 pin (Big cable) and the 8 pin (CPU cable). Then tried turning it on and it worked.

EDIT: If you have a voltage meter then you can also use that on a connector.

Yeah I tried that and nothing works it wont power up at all. My questions is now should i get a new mobo or could this be possible something else that would cause this. 2nd could I have damaged the processor in anyway, could I have damaged the ram in anyway? I just don't want to spend money to find out that it wasnt my motherboard but it was my cpu, water-cooler ram ect.

Since I have to replace my mobo any thoughts on a new one??? Msi Asus or gigabyte?

I think if in doubt, take it to a IT place to have it looked at. They can run full tests on every component and see if they are damaged. For the time being. I would see if you are able to get all the parts replaced/refunded.

Even if some of them work and others don't. Its best to make sure 100% that they all do by replacing them.
