Help:I dont`t know how to connect the Monitor(it has a VGA-cable) with my desktop Optiplex 760 .

I dont`t know how to connect the Monitor(it has a VGA-cable) with my desktop Optiplex 760 . There is a VGA-port and I tried it several times put there came only the message :"unsupported video configuration detected" and this means that I used the wrong port .
My probleme is that there is only 1 VGA and I can`t find a DVI-I,DVI-D or another DVI-port at my Desktop.

Ok, I suggest you try another VGA cable if you have one.. Beyond that, all I can think of without being able to screw around with it myself is to take it to the home of the person who gave it to you and make sure it still works with their monitor.

Do I see an oldschool.. um.. I dont remember what the plug is called, the long purple one we used to use to connect dot-matrix printers back in the day.. Umm.. That is quite old... Try using an older monitor? It may not support modern monitors. I would highly suggest an upgrade.

My Montior is old, he has two connections 1) for VGA and the other 2 ) for AWM (i think this kind of cable is no longer sold .

DiaSin so you mean(maby, so I understand it ) that my Monitor is too old( although that it has an VGA-port ) and this DELL desktop is not supporting my monitor(or the other way).

I am not intending to come off as mean. What I am saying is that that computer is quite old. What I was thinking was that with the age of the computer its graphics chipset might have some kind of incompatibilty with the early LCD monitors, which were nit-picky in many cases, but it looks like you have a tube monitor, so I do not see why it would not work. Do you have another monitor to try? Have you used this computer with this monitor before or did you just pick it up?

I just pick it up, I used the monitor with another computer. I know that this computer (Dell) works with modern LCD-monitor. You are certain that the vga-port is for monitor from the dell desktop. I have only this monitor.

Yes. The green one next to it I believe is an old serial port, which is what many peripheral devices used before USB became a standard, and the big purple one is the port that used to be used for printers, again, before USB became a standard. The two smaller ones next to that appear to be a firewire on the bottom, and above that.. I am not sure what that is, I want to say e-sata but I don't know for sure, I thought that was a newer type of connection, but that computer DOES say vista on the front sticker so it seems to be from an awkward transitional phase into the modern connection standards. The rest of the ports are the standard USB, Ethernet and audio ports. Are you certain the computer works? Did you test it before you bought it? I am of course, based off of its age, assuming that you bought it used.

I did not bought it, it was given. However it worked before.
You are rigth it is e-sata, like you I researched about the other ports, that is the reason why I am confused. I tested it again, but it did not work. It came only the message.

This monitor looks like very old one, I tried even Eizo support site, nothing there. The only thing I was able to find that this monitor model was manufactured around 1998 and it has a driver, which is difficult to find.
This driver listed in this package monitor_e3300_11.zip 1998-10-24 (Windows 95/NT/98/2000/XP/2003) http://www.okdrivers.com/2013/01/monitor-e3300-11-zip-1998-10-24-windows-95-nt-98-2000-xp-2003.html attempts to find download place brought me to place full of viruses.

I remember that even first Dell LCD monitors had drivers, so this could be something to look for.

Just another 2 cents.

VGA port on PC accepts plug which has 15 pins in 3 rows of 5 pins so can not be mistaken for any thing else

Try starting PC in safe mode. (F6)
See if that let's you get a display and get to display settings to choose suitable frequency & resolution
