Hi everyone,

While cleaning my ASUS X99-Deluxe II motherboard today, I noticed a missing SMD component. I’ve attached a close-up image highlighting the area in question. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a schematic or diagram online to identify the specific part. The board seems to work fine for now, but I’d like to replace the missing component to avoid any potential issues in the future.

Here’s what I know so far:
  • Motherboard Model: ASUS X99-Deluxe II
  • The missing component is located on the backside top of the motherboard.
Does anyone know what this component might be (e.g., resistor, capacitor, etc.) or its value/specifications? If someone has the same motherboard and could share a photo of this area, it would be incredibly helpful.

I’ve already tried contacting ASUS support, but they couldn’t provide the schematics. Any guidance, resources, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I have to ask why did the board need such "thorough" cleaning that you might have disturbed a (potentially badly soldered) SMD component? They're normally "glued on" quite well and take a lot of force to dislodge. I'm content to leave my boards with a thin film of dust, until they get like this.

It might be a capacitor, but as to what value, your guess is as good as mine. Tiny SMD components are often too small for any writing to identify the part. You'd need the pick and place build list, but if you have a hot air rework station and the skill to use it, you could unsolder a similar looking component nearby, measure the capacitance or resistance and buy a replacement. Take care.
