Help identifying parts on laptop internals

Does anyone know what the 4 die's are as well as the other multiple tiny dies on the left?

What do they do and why does the heatsink have these sticky pads on them? Is it to simply prevent scratching/pressure or does the heatsink actually do something for them?

The sticky pads are part of the cooling system. Those pads are thermally conductive.
