[SOLVED] Help in buying new ram

Hey y'all im planning to buy a new ram sticks since one of my old ones is broken. My memory capacity is only 8gb and my old ram sticks were 4x2gb. Would a 2x4gb work or should I stick with buying 4x2gb ram sticks? My motherboard is an old one and its only DDR3. The motherboard model is ASUS Maximus Extreme.

2x4GB would typically be preferable to 4x2GB, assuming compatibility works out.

2x 4GB running in dual channel would usually be the cheaper/better option.
these older chipsets really see no performance increase with quad channel kits.
