I was originally going to run crossfire with

However it was suggested that one

would be better. Any suggestions i do not wish to spend more than 200 on the card/cards.

Also the two boards im looking at say the fallowing the gigabyte says PCI Express 2.0 x16 (2) ;however, the Asus says PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 2 (one x16 or dual x8 link). Does this mean that on the gigabyte board crossfire could run at 16x while on the asus it can only run at 8x?

If you can wait, 5750 512mb would be launching at $109. You can use two of them in crossfire.

Well, two 4850's in crossfire will only be slightly better than the 5770. (Just a couple of frames)
My suggestions is to buy a 5750 now, then crossfire with a second one after the prices drop (Should be around the time that Nvidia releases their DX11 gen.)....or just get the 5770. I tend to overthink my purchases.

@the second question: Yes, that is exactly what it means.

The 5770 has performance equal-to or less-than the HD4870. 4850x2 > 4870 by far.

Not true at all. A better comparison for crossfired HD4850s would be an HD5850.
