Okay, so I'm not the most tech savvy person, but I've never had trouble installing new psu's gpu's or anything else for that matter. I'm on a stock HP P7 - 1534, with integrated graphics (HD7560D).

Specs

Windows 8

PSU was upgraded to 530w

I'm trying to install an HD 6770, initially after installing the card, my pc wouldn't boot. I was greeted by an orange blinking light and 6 beeps signifying a problem with the gpu. Found out that with this UEFI Firmware you have to disable secure boot and enable legacy mode for your pc to even recognize a new card. After changing the settings, my pc will boot, but I can't get anything to display on my monitor. I've tried using both my standard monitor (connecting directly to the mobo via VGA) and I've also tried connecting an HDTV directly to the card, neither will display an image. Do I need to boot in safe mode and disable my HD7650? Do I need to install drivers for the 6770 beforehand? Pretty lost here, please help.

Solution

yeah no problem
Remember that onboard video and a graphics card are going to have different connections to your monitor ( meaning you will plug your monitor in to your pc in different spots ). Put the GPU you in, hook up any power if it needs it, and install all of the drivers and whatnot. Do all of this while your monitor is plugged into your MOBO video slot. Once you do all that and your computer picks up on the graphics card, switch over to using dedicated graphics and plug monitor into graphic card .

Everything is connected properly including the 6 pin into the card, pc boots fine using itegrated graphics if I remove the card and plug my monitor back into the mobo. I think maybe I need to remove the drivers for my integrated graphics first for my pc to recognize the new card?

try doing that Use DDU driver uninstaller

GPU is connected properly and is getting power, I had an HDTV plugged directly into the card and couldn't get an image. If I remove the card and plug my monitor back into the MOBO's vga port everything works fine ( my monitor is VGA and I don't have a DVI adapter, so I'm using an HDTV to test the card because it has 2 DVI and an HDMI Port ).

Ran DDU uninstaller in safe mode, picked the clean option (for installing new gpu). Still can't get an image to display, could it be the card?

does the GPU fan come on?

Specs for my MOBO state the following. Shouldn't the integrated graphics be automatically disabled when installing a new card?

MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine)

Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed.
Supports PCI Express x16 graphics cards.
Either integrated graphics or the PCI Express x16 slot are usable at one time; they are not usable concurrently.
DVI and VGA ports (Can be used at the same time).
The integrated graphics differ by processor

Yes the GPU is connected correctly and is receiving power.

I dont know what to tell you i havent used intergated GPU in a year now

Yeah I'm stumped... Card was used recently and I'm 99% sure it's good... PC Boots up fine, card powers up fan spins, but I can't get an image to display at all, monitor doesn't respond.

This is a very common issue with GPU's usually due to not having the latest bios for the GPU, keep the card in there for a while or i can help you try to get this thing installed with teamviewer

I can't get an image to display at all if the card is plugged into the pci slot, even when plugging my monitor directly into the mobo. I have to completely remove the card for an image to display at all.

no you use the intergrated GPU download teamviewer dont click anything just let it install everything open it and make a new personal password send the password and id to me turn off the password to your account and make sure that you dont disable teamviwer on startup and turn off the computer put the new GPU in and give it 5 minutes and ill try to connect i use this method all the time

Ok I get it now give me a minute please thanks for all your help

yeah no problem
