ok first choose one brand of ram, just get the corsair. 8gb is plenty. and one 6950 would get you a mix of medium and high settings if you are trying to get 60 fps. if you want only 30 it should be fine maxed

i would choose a different motherboard as that 1 is limited to sli only. you wont be able to use crossfire or if you can you will have issues. a z68 board would be a better choice as your using a ssd, you can then make use of the cache feature of the z68 chipset to enable quick sync. which will increase performance on some applications... you may not use it or want it now, but its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Ok, I've given up on asking, will this system do that, and this. So I have decided to leave this to you, or at least you help me.

Let's start of by saying, I will be spending about £900 (roughly $1400).

The system will be built for gaming.

I will mostly be playing Microsoft Flight Simulator X, so if you are helping me, I ask that you have some experience with the program, and know what runs it good :)

I want to install FSX on a seperate Hard disk, possibly an SSD.

So please help me

OCZ 60GB Agility 3 SSD - 2.5" SATA-III - Read 525MB/s Write 475MB/s 80,000 IOPS

ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Socket 1155 DVI VGA HDMI DisplayPort 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard

Asus GTX 560 Ti Battlefield 3 Edition 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI PCI-E Graphics Card (@ 900MHz)

I should think that system will dominate FSX exspecially when you OC the I7 to about 4.3Ghz+ :bounce: If i could make one suggestion, get a GTX570 instead, a little more cash and a lot more power... POWER!! Besides a GTX560 Ti is not gonna play the newest games on ultra alone (now if you're gonna go SLI and get 2xGTX560Ti's then i should imagine they will have no problem). Also to spare you a little cash you don't need a 850w PSU for that system if you're not gonna go SLI, though if you do wanna go SLI in the future keep it :)

so get lower PSU (cheaper) and use money to get gtx 570?

I highly doubt you will need more than 8GB of ram if you're just gonna play games as i only have 4GB and i can't remember if i have ever maxed it out with any game. I know games are gonna start using more in the near future but i don't think they will use more than 8GB (you can always just buy more in the future if you need it).

Yeah buy a 700W instead and then with the money you save you can buy a GTX570 which is gonna bully your games.

No get the I7 2600k, the reason i say this is because it has 8 threads instead of the 4 that the 2500k has, i know you're not gonna be able to use it with the games out now but you're gonna need it in the future. Future proofing your system is essential to save money. :sol:

OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA-III Solid State Hard Drive

Intel Core i7-2600K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail

MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

8GB G.Skill RipJawsX (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz 9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Kit - F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL

750W OCZ ZS Series ATX2.2 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply

Corsair H60 Water-Cooling CPU Cooler

500GB Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 3.5" SATA III Hard Drive

Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard

what about this, FSX on maxed ultra settings with fps above 25? and BF3 on ultra with above 25 fps ???

be-quiet do offer some of the quietest coolers but they do so at reduced cooling capacity... not by much though only 5 degrees so you will still get 4.6 easily out of the 2600k and still have headroom if you wanted to go further...
the sealed water coolers are just cheap and noisy and in real terms no better than air. over all that build is very nice and the twin frozer III is a ggggreat 570.

i think you have potentially a great system there and i would be proud to own it. yes im very finikey about hardware, but that system is a great build in my eyes...

^this

you are gonna bully Battlefield 3 with that system and FSX :) Everything looks good

MSI's website suggests that it is compatible with crossfire. Quick Sync is to do with speeding up video encoding not SSD caching. As you're getting a 60GB SSD , big enough for a few apps and Windows, why would you slow it down with SSD caching?

That nitpicking aside, the Z68 would be the better choice as the price difference is minimal and in some cases it's cheaper to buy Z68 than P67, weirdly.

A good solid choice is the ASUS P8Z68-V, albeit a little more expensive (£10 on ebuyer) than the MSI Z68A GD55

ok my specs are:

i5 2500k @ 4.4
gtx 560Ti
500gb
60gb ssd (FSX only)
12gb RAM
h60 water cooler
MSI p67-A GD55 B3 motherboard

Ok, ive yet to build this system as the components are yet to arrive. So do you think I will get above 20fps average on pretty much maxed out settings and some addons such as REX 2.0, ultimate traffic 2, and some planes etc.... ?????????

because of the limits that are built into the game you dont need a huge machine. im pretty sure the vanilla game is actually limited to 1 core and the gfx limited to 15-20 fps. no matter how big your system... the good news is 1s you start applying the dlc the limits get lifted, the bad thing is that some dlc's actually re-apply them...

sorry i cant tell you which 1s to get or avoid as i dont play the game... not my thing sorry... im much more of a hawx/action flight sim player.

btw if you want something with fast action give hawx 2 a look. the maps are tiny compared to fsx but there much more fun in my book... add to the the superiour ground detail and hawx2 wins out over fsx...

other good flight sims:
wings of prey
janes advanced strike fighter.
and for the all out sim,
x-plane 9 or 10 really do look stunning from there screens (not quite so good when playing)

considering that hardware will run near maxed any game that is currently available, I think you will do well in FSX. Be mindful of the 20fps limit on the vanilla game, as hexit mentioned.

oh yes I'm quite aware that this guy has had close to 10 topics on the same subject by now. Strangely enough he refuses to believe the answers that he gets here, so he keeps coming back hoping to get something different every time. That's my guess so far.

I think he just likes you and is seeking new avenues toward asking you to go to prom.
Ok, I am still awaiting my components to build this rig. But first, what do you mean vanilla game. Btw, My addons will be, Acceleration, Ultimate Traffic 2, REX 2.0 FSDreamTeam addon sceneries, captain sim 757, level d 767. Do you think I will attain reasonable fps such as 25fps constant, with an external fps limiter
