I have following specs

AMD HD 6870
core 2 quad q8300
750GB HDD
4 gb DDR 2 Ram
G31t-m5 motherboard
lite-on PS-5251-7
win xp sp3

The graphic card runs fine
BUT
When i run games like Prostreet, GTA : EFLC , GTA san an, etc the monitor gets turns off (no signal)
I have to restart my pc.
Sometimes restarting pc also dont work
I think i need a new psu.
Tell me a psu or any other solution if available for this problem.

I will overclock my GPU only if needed.
Stock clock rates would be fine.
Just tell me PSU which is cheap and good.

I am building a new pc with the same card as yours. I was taking the aerocool 600w which is not so expensive, but as 6870 requires 2-6 pin connectors, it was not compatible.

Finally, i took a 700w aerocool to power up my card......Hope it helps...

A single Radeon HD 6870 graphics card system should have a power supply unit with a minimum +12 Volt continuous current rating of 24 Amps or greater and with at least two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

The following reputable name brands meet the requirements with ample reserve for overclocking :

Antec EA-500D Green 500 W Dual 12V Rail Power Supply Rs. 5,100
PCI-E Power Connectors : 1x 6 pin & 1x 6+2 pin
+12V Combined : 37 Amps

Corsair GS600 600 W (CMPSU-600G) Single 12V Rail Power Supply Rs. 4,200
PCI-E Power Connectors : 2x 6+2 pin
+12V Combined : 48 Amps

Corsair CX600 600 W (CMPSU-600CX) Single 12V Rail Power Supply Rs. 4,100
PCI-E Power Connectors : 2x 6+2 pin
+12V Combined : 40 Amps

Corsair VX-550 550 W (CMPSU-550VX) Single 12V Rail Power Supply Rs. 5,000
PCI-E Power Connectors : 1x 6 pin & 1x 6+2 pin
+12V Combined : 41 Amps

Seasonic S12II-430 Rs. 2,650
PCI-E Power Connectors : 1x 6 pin & 1x 6+2 pin
+12V Combined : 30 Amps

Seasonic SS-500ES 500 W Dual 12V Rail Power Supply Rs. 3,150
PCI-E Power Connectors : 2x 6 pin
+12V Combined : 34 Amps
