Hello folks, I'm in the market for an overpriced secondhand gpu in this truly hellish market. I have a 720p monitor and I don't think I will upgrade it anytime soon so the gpu only needs to perform within that 720p resolution. The games I play are fairly light with the most demanding title being Apex Legends. I basically have two choices:
1. Go with a GTX 960 2gb for 150 usd
2. Go with a GTX 970 4gb for 250 usd
The 970 is obviously the more powerful card, not to mention the bigger vram but I don't know if I should pay that much for it and whether or not I can truly take advantage of its power, seeing as my monitor only runs at 720p.

Your psu is a bit small for a 970 but since your not pushing 1080p and an overclocked CPU it should be fine. I think for the money a 1050 ti 4gb runs around $170 +/- $20 and would be a better value over the 960 GTX 2gb. 🤷‍♂️

  1. Is this an OEM system?
  2. What is the output of your power supply?
  3. What VGA power cables do you have?

It's not OEM, it's my own baby, the fruit of my creation. It does use older components though, the CPU is an i5 3470. The power supply I have is EVGA 450 BR 80+ bronze.

I'm seeing Apex legends gets 53.4 fps on high at 1080p here.

But THAT'S at 1080p.

So I'm thinking the 960 will do you fine at 720p.

Wow I didn't think a 960 can do that much!
