I’m looking to upgrade my PC and need advice on which graphics card to get. I primarily game at 1440p resolution and play demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, and Forza Horizon 5. I'm also interested in future-proofing for upcoming games.

Here are my main priorities:

  • Smooth performance at high settings
  • Support for ray tracing and AI features like NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR
  • Good thermal performance and reliability
Currently, I’m considering:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070/4080
  • AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
Budget: Around $800, but I’m flexible if it’s worth it.

What do you recommend? Are there any upcoming GPUs I should wait for? I’m also open to other brands or suggestions!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If you can wait a few more months, then you should hang on until the RTX570 is released.

Budget: Around $800, but I’m flexible if it’s worth it.
Where are you located? What is your preferred site for purchase?

Wait a few weeks and get a 5080 or 5070ti. Nvidia generally is better at ray tracing if you care about that. If you get a founders edition you may be able to pay MSRP. Otherwise cost appears right now about the same for 4000 series vs 5000 series.

middle ground 4070 ti super. 4080 isnt worth it. as the 4070 ti super can be pretty damn close.

rx 7900 xtx can be had for around the same price.

things to keep in mind raytracing is no contest the 4070 ti super will wipe the floor with amd cards and overall driver stability is better.

if you dont care about eye candy and just want the highest fps amd would be your go to i do find drivers are slow and can be broken.

or you can wait for 9000 series to appear and see how optimised it is.

also what is your current rig.

I strongly disagree. The 4080 Super, if you can find one at MSRP, is a pretty good deal and significantly outperforms the 4070 ti in most games in both rasterization and ray tracing. According to me, it's the 4070 ti that does not worth it since you can get the far superior 4080 for a few more bucks. But the poor 4080 still carrie this bad reputation because of the bad launch price and despite being one of the best GPUs Nvidia ever released.

4080 have over inflated prices.

4080 super is over a grand.
