Hello,
So I'm thinking about upgrading my PC, at the moment I have 12gb ddr3, r9 270x, Intel Core i7-4790, 600 W power supply and a very cheap motherboard ( I got it because my old one died and I needed something quickly to make my pc work)

The problem is I can't choose between Intel or amd,
For intel I'm thinking Intel Core i3-8350K and Asus PRIME B250-PLUS
For amd I'm thinking AMD RYZEN 5 1600X and ASUS PRIME B350-PLUS

For both I'll be getting an 8GB ddr 4 ram (might get more if needed)

And for the graphics card I'm thinking about GTX 1060 6gb (I prefer nvidia over amd)

If you have other suggestions for parts let me know, my budget is about 600EUR or about 750USD
For Graphics card price think about MSRP!

PC should be for games like PUBG and BF1 at 1440p (Doesn't have to be ulrta settings)

Thanks for reading.....

The 4790 is still relevant these days. The 4690K is still relevant. The only upgrade needed at this point is the GFX card and possibly the PSU. Is that an EVGA? I had plenty of time, starting in March of last year, to research the best upgrade path. I have 4690K. A whole new foundation or what? about 10 months later I have the 1080 Ti.

Thanks for the fast reply, I didn't know that about 8th gen Chips what intel chip would you recommend? And which CPU is better for gaming in your opinion (AMD or Intel)?

Thanks for the reply..... I want to upgrade to a newer gen chip because I want ddr 4 and a better motherboard.

For gaming, I’d say intel. It’s got a higher base clock and with oc’ing, it can still stack up to amd chips (amd’s Can be oc’ed a bit more) and it’s got a decent amount of cores for multitasking.

Do you have any suggestions for an intel CPU that's in my budget?

I'd like to get a newer gen CPU because I want to get a mother board with LGA 1151 and 4 ddr 4 ram slots.

Eh, I'd keep it, getting something newer just for the sake of "future proofing" without the need of extra performance out of the CPU seems pointless, especially at 1440P were having a better GPU will benefit you the most. Also adding a SSD would be good if you don't currently have one for at least the OS.

Performance wise the 4790 is nearly identical to my 4770K stock and currently I'm using it with a 1080 ti without issue at 2560x1080P/75hz, I feel that if you get a better CPU your performance "increase" will be minimal and kind of a waste of money.

I've just spent the past 9 months saving money for my PC upgrade. That means 9 months of time to ask the questions and do my due diligence.

I replaced my EVGA 500W 80+ PSU with a Seasonic 650W G Series 80+ Gold PSU.
