Hello,

I want to buy a Graphics Card for this System Specification
Processor: AMD FX8350
Motherboard: AsRock 990FX Extreme 9
RAM: CrossAir Vengeance 8GB
HDD: 2 TB
Purpose: Gaming only
My Budget is $250 and Brand should be Sapphire

Solution

Correct me if i am wrong, but doesnt you mobo have just a PCIex16 2.0 slots (4 of them)

I dont know much about AMD but the r9 270x and 280x have 3.0(but i have heard that there isnt much of a performance drop when rin on a 2.0 slot) .But i might be wrong ,so please correct me.

PS -the sapphire 280x is just 250$

Solution

And please tell me your PSU

Earlier I had Sapphire HD7770, The Mobo supports PCIe x16 Slots 4 Generation 2.0, PSU is ANTEC 550 W
Now I have 2 answers here. Does these Graphics Cards compatible with AsRock 990FX Extreme 9?

HD 7770 is a pci 3.0.

Leaving that, yes your system should handle 270x(500w) but your psu is a bit lacking for 280x (it has a recommended spec of 700w)

the 270x is 170$ while 280x is 250$

NOTE
personal option - 280x

if you havnt started on your system, you can get a 750w psu for 80$ which would increase you budget by 30$ min

Plus you have 4 PCIex16 slots and if you plan on doing a crossfire ,you need a powerful PSU

@uthvag Correct me if I wrong is this card Dual-X R9 270X with Boost OC 2 GB 2 GB DDR5 requires 600W? Now its worrying me a lot because if i go for this R9 270X with Boost OC 4 GB DDR5 my budget exceeds by $50. What do I do?

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/product_index.aspx?pid=2037&lid=1#

the official site says it requires 500w

about the 4Gb ,it is better to be safe to get is as nowadays games are increasingly demanding for VRAM (though most are bloated req trying to sell of products)
