Hello people,
Im going to try and keep it short, so i am certainly not an expert when it comes to hardware for a rig, i know some stuff about ram/gpu and cpu but thats as far as it goes.

I want to upgrade my prebuild (i know)
Before you guys get pissed and mad at me for buying a prebuilt, it was my first gaming pc.
So we are talking about the Acer Predator G3-605, i bought it 2 years ago and i definently need some uprades. Since im not pro at hardware whatsoever i tought i would ask you guys.
These are the specs (as far as i know)

Gpu: Nvidia GTX 645 OEM 2GB
Cpu: i5 4570 3.2 GHZ
1 TB Storage
8 gb DDR3 RAM
Windows 10 64 bit
(If there is additional stuff i left out, just tell me. Once again im a noob)

My goal is to have a good pc for Arma3 but also for some AAA games.
Since the 1080 is coming out, i expected for the 960/970/980 etc... to drop prices, and get one for around 200 euros.
What would be the best option here guys?

Sincerely, Nima.

My buddy upgraded his OEM 645 from his Alienware X51 R2 to one of my spare 660's and got a massive performance increase right away just in Killing Floor 2 and Starcraft 2. You would probably be okay with a 970 if your power supply can run it. How many PCIe power connectors does the power supply have, and how many amps is it pushing on the 12v rail? You can find that on a label usually on one side of the power supply

That power supply should be fine for a 970, as long as it has the proper connectors. They look like this:

Most 970's need two of the six pins or a six pin + an eight pin. If you have those you should be good to go

I searched for my power supply and i found it on internet with the specs,

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gateway-Acer-FSP500-50AAGA-500-watt-12-pin-power-supply-replaces-FSP300-40AABA/311052888504?_trksid=p999999.c100623.m-1&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160323102634%26meid%3Debc11d6f5e7f4e81a119b605ccf64552%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D311052885582

Would this work?

That's a bit of a weird power supply. It's got a proprietary 12 pin motherboard connector, but according to the pictures it also has one 6 pin and one 8 pin PCIe connector. So yes. That should work. You just gotta find them and plug them into the card after you install it into the
graphic card slot.

Awesome man, appreciate the time you put into this.
I have 1 more question before i end this post, my CPU/Motherboard will it need a upgrade soon? Or is it gonna be fine.

You should probably update it. If the motherboard can be removed, you should be able to put a micro ATX board in. A full ATX one might not fit. It looks too short of a case for that. But like I said last answer, that PSU is proprietary to that motherboard. You'd have to replace that with a standard ATX power supply with a 20/24 pin mainboard connector. But then you'd have a spare Acer board and Acer PSU. So you could just get a new mini tower case for the new board and PSU and just move the RAM, CPU, GPU, and HDD over.

Either way would be a good upgrade. So the path you take is up to you.

EDIT: The i5-4xxx series is Haswell. So any Intel socket 1150 board will be able to use that processor, and any new i3/i5/i7-4xxx will fit in the old board.
