I have a:
ASUS P9X79WS motherboard

i7 chip
http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-3820-Quad-Core-Processor-Cache/dp/B006WVVA28?ie=UTF8&psc=1
16GB of RAM
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Technology-Modules-KHX1600C9D3K4-16GX/dp/B0033BTACM?ie=UTF8&psc=1
620w power supply
http://www.amazon.com/Seasonic-M12II-620-BRONZE-SS-620GM2/dp/B003HE260I?ie=UTF8&psc=1
3x WD hard drives
3x Sapphire Radeon 6570 video cards (got them for $50 each 4 years ago)
http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-100323L/dp/B004XLPJOY?ie=UTF8&psc=1
(i use the HDMI and DVI outputs from each card to create a 6-display machine....3xHDMI and 3xDVI)
The video cards aren't connected via Crossfire or SLI...i just needed a cheap way to output onto 6 monitors.
1-2 times per day (sometimes less...sometimes more), pretty randomly, my screens just freeze...not a Blue Screen BSOD, all my windows are visible...but the entire PC is frozen..mouse and keyboard create no response...and the screens are "frozen in time"...even my clock is frozen , so i have to do a hard reboot...this is killing me.
I put a little timer app that would write the time every 15 seconds to a file on the hard drive...just to test to see if anything was running...hoping it was just a video card output....but alas...when the screens freeze...that app also froze...so i really have no idea what is causing the freeze / system crash.
How do i diagnose the problem? I'm a beginner...i thought building my own PC would be easy, since all these components just plug'n'play....and for the most part, things seem to work just fine...but the crashes are just killing me.
I'm running Windows 7 64bit (if that makes a difference).
