I just got my new comp (finally)...
I ordered the pieces from a store and got it assembled at that store....

Now, there seems to be a problem....

I got it home, plugged in my vid card, plus sound card..

All was set so i pressed power and.... nothing happened...

So i opened the front pannel only to find that that the hole where the power plastic thing enters is empty....

There is absolutly nothing behind where the "power" button could have effect, so I thought it could have fallen off inside but the said power switch is hidden behind my floppy drive and stuff... its unreachable.

So i can't see if there is a piece missing of if it only fell off....

This really pissed me off given how long I have waited for it ...

SOooooooooo after all this text, here comes the question 😛

Do you guys think it's the case that came in broken or a assembly mistake??? thx in advance

Oh yes that really helps...

Using a screw driver short the power SW pin (remove the power switch connector from the mobo first)...if the computer powers on then it is your switch...if not then you have bigger problems

Yes the power switch must be connected to the motherboard properly and switched on. Aslo check the power connection to your motherboard isn't loose.

If he doesn't die, he'll get help!!!

look at your mobo manual and find the 2 jumpers that connect to the power switch and short them out (if there's a cable conneted there take it out first)

Do you guys really think that it's a wise idea to tell someone who had their system assembled for them to try shorting their power switch?

Hardware_Noob, my suggestion is this: Call the company's tech support and see if they can help you. If they can't or it's just plain broken then make them fix it. It shouldn't be your problem to deal with in the first place.

I was just about to say the same thing - sometimes people here forget what the rest of the world is like. We are living in a technobubble.

"Don't question it!!!" - Err

um its not that hard...

How do you think the switch works? it is just grounding a "sense" pin...this triggers the powersupply to start...

It is amazingly easy and i dont see why it shouldnt be done...

On some cases, such as mine, when you press the power on button on the front of the case you are simply shoving a plastic pin that extends from the back of the button into another little pin that is the actual power on switch. If either of these two pieces of plastic falls off then pressing the power button does not physically move the power on switch. From what I read I believe that is what happened at least.
