Help me upgrade my video/graphics card

Hello,

My laptop is
HP Pavilion (custom)
Windows 7
Intel i5
8GB Ram
with video card
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (512MB) [dedicated]

The video card isn't perfoming well and a wish to upgrade it.

How do I know which card will
A) fit in my laptop
B) Be compatable
C) Work well

You'll need a card that almost exactly fits that laptop. Unfortunately laptop parts aren't standardized (except for the CPU, hard drive, and memory) so the hardware usually must come from HP, when you bought the laptop was there an upgrade option?
